Education for Development

Includes courses in partnership
with the University of Richmond

Overview

Education is key to achieving several development goals. Get a headstart in this diverse and complex field by completing the GVI Education for Development Virtual Internship. Attend expert-led lectures to learn about current and important topics in the field such as the difference in access to quality education between urban and rural communities and between genders. Gain practical experience by completing real work for real organisations that focus on education as a development goal. Gain first-hand insight into initiatives such as improving Early Childhood Development opportunities in underserved communities or increasing educational opportunities for adults.

Project work

Throughout your internship you’ll be completing one project each week that helps a local organisation solve an actual problem. Since we work with real partners, real, valuable projects will be assigned to you. This means that the types of projects you could work on will vary. We aim to match you as closely as possible with an organisation and a task that aligns with your personal career goals. See below for some of the projects you could work on during your internship.

Write website content that highlights the importance of education

Create blog posts emphasising the importance of education for development and social mobility in Cambodia. This content will highlight how education empowers individuals and drives positive change in communities.

Develop a health curriculum for Burmese migrants in Thailand

Design a comprehensive health curriculum for Burmese migrants in grades 9–12. Define clear learning goals, identify key concepts, and incorporate interactive activities to boost engagement and maximise learning outcomes.
