The city has a rich history that dates back to the 15th century, and it was the first capital of the Gold Coast before Accra took over. Cape Coast is famous for its castle, which was once the seat of British colonial administration in Ghana, and its beautiful beaches. Explore the Cape Coast Castle
The Cape Coast Castle is the most popular attraction in the city. It was built by the Swedes in 1653, and later taken over by the British in 1664. The castle served as the seat of British colonial administration in Ghana until the capital was moved to Accra in 1877. Today, the castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a museum. Visitors can take a guided tour of the castle’s interior and see the various rooms, including the slave dungeons, the governor’s bedroom, and the chapel. Kakum National Park Canopy Walk
